Mark J Murphy, MBA
Client Advisor
Vice President, Investments
With four decades of experience managing and guiding clients’ wealth, Mark offers deeply personalized financial guidance rooted in sophisticated strategies with a higher caliber of care. His mission is to help build, preserve and ultimately pass on his clients’ wealth as part of their enduring legacies.
Mark applies his extensive knowledge of equity and fixed income research – along with his broad experience in investment consulting, trading and management – to deliver truly holistic portfolio management to clients and their families. It was this ability to help families, working with them to achieve their goals and aspirations, that initially drew Mark to the world of financial planning. The intellectual stimulation of studying markets and exploring forward-thinking solutions was another bonus.
After working at The Washington Post as a researcher and staffer for the financial section, Mark entered the financial services arena with American Security Bank in their trading and trust department. He has worked with regionally and nationally respected firms such as Smith Barney & Co., Wheat First Butcher Singer and Morgan Stanley. Mark joined Alex. Brown, a division of Raymond James, in March 2021. With the firm’s robust intellectual capacity, research and support, the move has allowed Mark to meet the most complex of client needs in a truly customized fashion.
In addition to his hands-on industry experience, Mark holds a Master of Business Administration in international finance from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Fairfield University. He is a proud alumnus of Gonzaga College High School in Washington D.C. Mark also holds his Series 7, 63 and 65 licenses.
Originally from Washington, D.C., Mark resides in Maryland with his wife, Nancy. Aside from spending time with Nancy and their wonderful daughters – Rosie and Elizabeth – Mark cherishes time spent reading, running and traveling.
